Everything in this SitRep is from a Beast/Super/Sprint perspective, but I did speak to several Ultra finishers and got their thoughts, which are incorporated into this SitRep—respect to everyone who laced them up this past weekend. Overview One of the benefits of traveling for races is the opportunity to visit different parts of this great country of ours. Once outside of the Dallas metroplex, Central Texas, with seemingly endless cattle ranches and treeless vistas, might not be on your personal bucket list, but it should be. The terrain is rugged and beautiful, starkly contrasting to many of the venues on the Spartan schedule. No matter where you train, Central Texas represents a challenge for technical running, managing hydration, and dealing with unusual terrain that is starkly different from many other parts of the country.
